New DIY Bakki shower

Postby worthy » Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:47 pm

Well after the great resaults last year from my old bakki shower i have decided to go bigger and with better media as well, Where as last year i used alfarock which worked great this year im going to use Cryistal Bio media.

So to start i have got my self 3 stackable container made from food grade plastic which are 2foot x 1 and a half foot x 1 foot

Then it was out with the bottoms to alow the water to flow between crate and then in to the pond.

As you can see i have left a strip for exter suport as it will be holding some weight as i am hoping to use about 75 liters of Cryistal Bio, It was then a case of cutting the filter grid sheets to size to fit in the bottom,

Image

Insted of a spray bar iv gone for a spray ring as the area was to wide for 1 bar to go across and give good water coverage over the media, I only have the pic of this so far so i will be updating as i go along,

I still havant worked out quite how it will return to the pond weather i cut the bottom out of the bottom creat and have it flow straight in or make a lip of some kind for the water to flow off in to the pond (Any ideas welcom thumright ) will update once i get a bit more done.

Well i have managed to do some more today and am nerly finished just need to cover the handle holes to stop water coming out of them and buy the Cryistal bio for the biological medai.
So hear are the pic's of my progres today.

I have decided to go with the same idea as the othe trays for the last one just cut the holes in the bottom a bit smaller so the water dosant run on the fram of the pond and just straight in to the water.

Image

Then i made a frame for the whole shower system to sit on over the pond.

Image

And as you see it sits there very nicely and the water flows thro great just need to cover the handles to stop water coming out

Image

Once i have the media in there and up and running ill add a pic so you can see that or maybe a short video thumright

And hear is a pic of how ther system works
