first off sorry to hear this news alex
secondly we need to find the cause..
Are all your levels ok chap ???? spring is coming and the filter will be struggling to cope . how deep is your pond alex ? as if its been like hear cold at night and sun shining in the day it will have an inverse affect of the koi.

the fact they are a year old won't help matters too a koi ammune system is better at 1+ years

Was there no earlier singhs of anything wrong or was it just a case of one day fine next dead?

Have you been feeding throu the winter?

When was last water change?

And is there enougth air in the pond?

air should not matter in the winter cold water hold o2 in the water better , i would personally say that a pond that's one meter deep and if the weather is anything like i have had here ie sun shining in the day then the temp dropping 8 deg over night is bound to have an adverse affect on young koi with being there first winter too just adds to the conclusion as many dealers stock in high levels and feed min to keep costs down these fish would not be feed up enough to survive a long cold winter like we have had the past 2 years
