TDS meter readings

Postby Kanundra » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:32 pm

Hey

So I got my meter reader today here are the readings.

Tap water, is 234ppm

Baby pond is 244pm

Big pond is 210pm

Is that any good. Of course will re check all in the morning, but need to keep the pen sterile, incase any bugs are still lurking. so got a cup out of each before I can do anything with it.

Let me know anyone what you think. :)

they are safe levels dawn some say anything over 250 pm would need reducing then on the other hand mike ect say 100 -150 pm.

Okawa Koi Farm indoor
growing pond
pH 7.60, Conductivity 288.3, O2 92.8%.
TDS 151ppm,

A level of 200ppm would indicate a near perfect [safe] pond that has extremely well managed water changes.
So we can use this measurement as a good indication as to what may or may not be being done. thou if you wish to harness the power of the water into growth you need to manage the water lowering the kh to what you want it but these levels must be maintained else as lowering the kh will lead to the waters own buffering system being weakened which could lead to a ph crash that could be fetal. i on the other hand have soft water with a low kh so i have to manage the water up wards as with a 5 ml test tube of water my kh registers 0 thou i have a perm buffer in the nexus upping the kh to 3 dh

GOT a question about tds meters would it be beneficial to have one giving you a reading of tap water before purifier then give you a reading after the purifier. Just another idea shooting through my head.Image
