koi health issue

Postby gazcop » Tue Aug 16, 2011 4:02 pm

high need some advice, i have had a couple of koi with wounds, i think caused by parasites ,as they where
doing a little flashing ,i have treated two of them ,and they are now fine, iam currently treating a large chagoi , but i would like to find out what is the cause , my setup is a nexus 200 ,bottom drain fed, i also have a skimmer pumping back to pond, all the water tests are spot on ,and have been for many years.
my worry is i fitted a large pergola last year and covered it with bambo, looks great, but i have noticed
what looks like drips or runs of bird boo, could this be the cause .thanks.

The bird poo could be an issue but also the unstable temps going up and down then back up again will cause issues

hi, i check temp almost daily, and dosnt fluctuate by much at all, i think the shade from pergola helps keep temp staple. was think of putting a secondary roof on top to stop bird crap and rain water, which iam told can affect ph levels, although all tests on water is spot on. was thinking of some sort of clear plastic roof to divert rain etc. any ideas ,i would be gratefull, thanks

i stapled old pond liner on the top of my pergola slightly tilted towards the back so it runs off .

hi there thumright

that pool looks great thumright tip top work there thumright

my first thoughts are is there any sharp objects in the pool ??

during spawning months koi can almost leap out of the pool at night when being chased by males ,, this could cause injury or damage ,, you can treat wounds with para pura as an additive or direct to the wound ,,

great looking pond mate thumright love the theme thumright
