salt is a wonderful un-sung hero in an aid to helping fish recover and i cant believe for one second why an outlet would say chuck a treatment in the whole pond if only one fish is ill i suppose its a way of making ££££ as salt does not cost that much compared to treating a 3000 gal pond .

tell paul next time he cuts him self put a little salt water on the wound and see how quicker it heels . ;) ;)

Hey all,

So big boy was feeding this morning, he was asleep under the shelf and has pinched my Big Chagoi's spot :) when I came home though he was sulking on the bottom, he soon came over for food though and ate a lot. I watched him for about 30 mins, he flicked once. Tonight he's sulking a little bit, but then swims about, goes back to sulking.

His behaviour isn't as bad as it was. Actually I've been reading up on introducing new koi and the facts that if they're in a bag for long periods of time it actually lowers the ph, so adding pond water to the bag isn't a good idea, or putting them in a bowl of water from the pond. I might have done more damage by doing that, thinking I'd be helping acclimate them. But putting them right in the pond would have done the same really with ph shock.

Will keep learning and reporting in. :) I still think he's doing much better.

i always test the ph of the water in the bag to avoid the ph shock ;)

Seems to be doing better again this morning. Eating well, have to be careful not to overfeed though and let our filter catch up with the extra fish. :)

So Big Boy is swimming around with all the other fish, but my mummy ghosty is freaking out. Like big time.... she has a massive rub on her side from someone else pushing against her... Yikes who ever wanted spawn? I think I'd rather have happy fish :(

Least he is healing. His red missing scale doesn't look so bad, the bruising on his head is going, he looks whitish with a hint of pink. Which is awesome. The Big shiro female is flicking, but Mr Miyagi said that is moving the eggs about. NO other fish are flicking now. :) Big Bonus

So watch this space. Fixing the QT this weekend. Setting it up for next week. And the two seperate vats for the fish while we drain the pond...

:) keep you informed :)
