Food for thought!!

Postby koimaster » Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:15 pm

after a year of mixing foods and getting better growth than years before brings me to this subject ... do you think koi like us need to balance out the protein vs carb etc to gain size and weight ????????

i think a good selection of foods is ideal thumright

obviously wheat germ in the winter , but adding a little garlic will help thumright

i think a varied diet is best notworthy

and you should always feed a pellet to suit the smallest koi in your pond , this is also great for digestion in adult koi through colder months

It is amazing the difference in what you feed.

I mix mine and have had a massive growth spurt in some fish, (not one though) which is brill. I will keep doing it. I also mix mine with Sansai, the fish love it.

i am in the middle of some calculations and a inch by inch pound for pound feeding calculator to achieve the best growth over certain temp im hoping i can pull this off to launch on this site so if you wanted you could all follow it thou its some indepth stuff like water volume x fish x turnover of water divided per gram of protein per fish over pond temp. :o :o :o
